THE ALLISON NEALE/GARY KAVANAGH QUINTET

Allison Neale -saxophone

Gary Kavanagh – trumpet

Dave Cliff - guitar

Julian Bury – bass

Matt Home - drums

American born Allison has a very distinctive style with an understated sound reminiscent of the great Paul Desmond with whom she has a particular affinity whilst Gary Kavanagh is well known on the European scene as a fine bop trumpeter in the tradition of Art Farmer & Clifford Brown. Their music recreates the GigGryce/Art Farmer Jazz Lab Quintets of the 1950’s as featured on their new album “Blue Concept”. With a fine rhythm section of leading British jazz musicians the whole ensemble plays swinging melodic jazz that is a joy to hear.
