About the event

Come enjoy this special Yorkshre Day event in the spectacular Lawrence Batley Theatre courtyeard.  Huddersfield Jazz and the Lawrence Batley Theatre have teamed up to present this special one-off event in celebration of Yorkshire Day.

Biography

Brimming with enthusiasm and bursting to get back playing again regularly, Nicola already has a few well received gigs under her belt and can't wait to play in Huddersfield again - and you're in for a real treat with Nicola's latest trio line-up for this gig!  Although only three, between them they cover vocals, double bass, piano, drums and percussion and Farnon manages to combine her exceptional talents of singing and playing bass whilst leading a trio brimming with versatility and integrity.  They play an eclectic mixture of popular standards (and a few of Nicola's own very catchy originals); classy arrangements with a mixture of swing, latin -and the moving, heart rending ballads that people never tire of.  Before lockdown Nicola appeared regularly on the national and international jazz circuit (which included a recent sell out tour in the Ukraine) and her line-ups have included such Jazz luminaries as Dave Newton, Digby Fairweather, Jim Mullen, Bruce Adams, Roy Williams and Alan Barnes - and she has supported class jazz acts as diverse as Eliane Elias, Courtney Pine, Georgie Fame, Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine, Humphrey Lyttleton and Acker Bilke.

Line-Up for this event

Nicola Farnon - vocals and double bass

Richard Wetherall - piano
