The Misophone Collective
Time & Location
About the Event
Come join us in our exciting new venue, the White Swan pub (14 Kirkgate, Huddersfield HD1 1QH), as we welcome the fabulous Misophone Collective.
The Misophone Collective was born in Manchester at the Royal Northern College of Music, but its members hail from many different corners of the UK. As a collective, the shape, size and texture of The Misophone Collective varies massively. The band is made up of upwards of 10 musicians who regularly perform in different Misophone constellations, ranging from an understated and intimate duo of Violin and Accordion, to a highly energised, brassy 10 piece swing band.
The trio that will be performing at Huddersfield Jazz were brought together at the Royal Northern College of Music by a mutual love of the same music, and they have been performing together in various outfits since their first year of studying.
The Misophone Collective has a unique style that bridges the gaps between Gypsy Jazz, Latin Jazz, Klezmer, Eastern European folk, Swing and even Classical music. This is as a result of various members various interests, which have been melded together to create something new, and fresh, whilst maintaining an authentic and warm sound. During the initial year of the pandemic, The Misophone Collective took a hiatus, with different members relocating to various parts of Europe. Upon the easing of restrictions however, the core members of the band have all returned to the UK, and as such, they are very excited to be able to play together for you once more.
